After moving to Spain in 2017 on my own at 23, I quickly learned what it meant to juggle everything at once – new culture, new language, endless Spanish bureaucracy, and trying to build a life from scratch.
For years in the UK, I worked in hospitality management, pushing through 12-hour shifts and running on pure survival mode.
Years later, with one international move under my belt, I realised I didn’t want to live in burnout anymore. I wanted freedom, flexibility, and a way to use my skills to support others instead of constantly running on empty.
3 years ago, I was fired from what I thought was the job that would “save me.”
I’d been working 3pm–11pm, selling courses for an online school. My social life and relationship were suffering, and my mental health was spiralling, so I jumped at the opportunity when it landed in my lap.
Two months in, it all came crashing down. I felt humiliated, deflated, and terrified; unemployed in another country, with bills to pay and no family nearby for support.
I still remember lying on my bed in tears, calling my dad. His reply?
“Well, we did all wonder what you were doing taking a job in an office. Maybe it’s a sign.”
(He was right – I’ve never been a 9–5 office type. Monotony has never been my thing!)
Those months that followed were tough. But they also forced me to dig deep, reflect, and make a decision:
I was done relying on local Spanish wages or putting my future in the hands of a company.
So I started my Virtual Assistant business. At the time, it was a last-ditch attempt to stay in Spain. I listed out every skill I’d built over the last 12 years, put myself out there, and hoped for the best.
What followed has been nothing short of life-changing:
Two and a half years of wonderful connections and endless new skills.
Supporting brilliant women and small businesses.
And now, relaunching not one but two businesses that feel perfectly aligned with me.
Your Virtual Assistant in Spain — helping expats and digital nomads cut through the red tape of Spanish bureaucracy and secure the right visa or residency.
ThriveFlow — helping women entrepreneurs stop drowning in tech by building back-end systems that run on autopilot or coaching them step by step to feel confident with tools like FEA Create.
